Just a short boat ride from Bangka Island brings you to the mainland of North Sulawesi, where a scenic drive through the Minahasa highlands leads you to one of the region’s most impressive natural landmarks: Mount Lokon.

Rising above the town of Tomohon, Mount Lokon is one of North Sulawesi’s most active volcanoes and offers a fascinating glimpse into the island’s powerful geological forces. Accompanied by an experienced local guide, you will begin your journey through volcanic landscapes shaped by centuries of eruptions.

A steady hike takes you along rugged paths and across open volcanic terrain towards the crater area, where steam vents and mineral-stained rocks reveal the immense energy beneath the surface. Along the way, your guide will explain the history of the volcano, its eruptions, and the role it plays in the culture and daily life of the surrounding communities.

After the hike, you will return to Tomohon where a relaxed lunch in a local restaurant is included, before driving back to the coast and returning by boat to Bangka Island.
